Both dairy farms that you would normally visit – Donia and Nicomekl Farms – are located in Surrey in the Lower Mainland of BC. This is an area that was traditionally farmland but is now experiencing intense pressure for and development of urban and residential land use (see the images below for a better sense of these pressures for both farms). Think about what issues this may raise for dairy farms, from social, environmental, and economics perspectives. What do you think these changes mean for farms like Donia and Nicomekl?
