{"id":285,"date":"2025-04-15T16:45:05","date_gmt":"2025-04-15T16:45:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ubc.tapestry-tool.com\/library-of-lived-experience\/?p=285"},"modified":"2025-06-04T05:25:38","modified_gmt":"2025-06-04T05:25:38","slug":"i-am-one-of-them-campaign-british-columbia-disability-collaborative-bcdc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ubc.tapestry-tool.com\/library-of-lived-experience\/i-am-one-of-them-campaign-british-columbia-disability-collaborative-bcdc\/","title":{"rendered":"I Am One of Them Campaign \u2013 British Columbia Disability Collaborative (BCDC)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The British Columbia Disability Collaborative (BCDC) is a collective of provincial non-profit organizations aimed at advocacy and service supports for families and individuals with lived experience and support needs. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bcdisabilitycollab.ca\/what-is-the-bcdc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">It was formed in 2021 in response to proposed government service delivery and funding changes that affect children and youth with support needs and their families acts as a collective voice to influence positive change.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2022 and 2024, the BCDC launched the <strong>I Am One of Them<\/strong> campaign to <a href=\"http:\/\/chrome-extension:\/\/efaidnbmnnnibpcajpcglclefindmkaj\/https:\/\/www.bcdisabilitycollab.ca\/_files\/ugd\/c495a6_0dfc7da2884b40dfb41894154834f6bd.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201craise awareness about the significant service gaps affecting BC children and youth with support needs (CYSN) and their families\u201d.<\/a> Below is a video series of nine families discussing their lived experience with accessing support services in BC.
